In the winter of 2008, the students, parents and community of Quatsino, British Columbia were officially informed by the provincial government that their school might be shut down.

At 6:30 p.m. April 28, 2008 at the School Board Office in Port Hardy, a final decision will be made on whether to close the school at the end of this current school year.

The staggering reality is that, were this to happen, the children of this remote community, and their families, would have four months to go elsewhere to find a public education.
